Inside the galleries, tables were set for anyone who wanted to make something rather than buy it — paint, brushes, bare ornaments, and a few hours of the evening to use them in.

Handmade work filled the tables along the street — jewellery, ornaments, crafts and candles beside food cooked and sold by the island’s own vendors. Every stall was someone’s own.
